Prerequisites

Before adding product information to ProStudio, ensure that all required product attributes for the product listing have been defined.

You also need the necessary permissions to import products. If you are unable to import products, please contact your local admin or the Profoto support team for assistance.

Import information

Here is the procedure for importing product information into ProStudio:

Prepare Excel

To import product information, you must first prepare a document containing the necessary data. Some fields are mandatory, and these are defined under the section: Settings > Advanced > Product Attributes

For more details, refer to the "How to Configure" section in the "Product Attributes" article.

Mandatory attributes may include a product number, EAN (GTIN), or any other unique identifier for each item in the list.

Download one product to get a template

If you're unsure of the format, you can download a product to use as a template. Simply go to the product listing view, filter for a product, and click "Export." This will generate an Excel file with all the required headings.

Start importing

To begin importing, go to the product listing and follow these steps:

1. Select Action/Import
   • If you have projects activated you must select a project
2. Select a file to import
3. Map columns in your Excel with the system
   • If you use a template from the system you can click “Includes header row”
   • This will give you a button that says "Auto calculate column mapping by header"
4. Select Import
5. ProStudio will validate the list of values you want to import
6. Press Next and start the import
7. A confirmation will be given about what has been imported and if something is only updated.

Note: One of the columns will serve as your unique identifier, this column cannot contain duplicate values. If two rows share the same identifier, only the first row will be imported.

After import

Once your products are imported, you will receive a message detailing which products were successfully imported. If any products already exist in ProStudio, they will be updated with the new information. The message will also inform you of how many new products were created and how many existing products were updated.

What can not be imported

Currently, only text information can be imported, meaning tags cannot be imported directly. Tags must be added or updated manually after the import process.
