The Profoto app is specifically optimized for iPhone to ensure the highest possible quality and performance for mobile photography. Currently, the iPad is not a supported device for the app.
Reasons for iPhone optimization
There are two primary reasons why we focus our development on the iPhone platform:
- Camera Hardware Standards: To deliver professional results with Profoto lights, the camera hardware must meet specific technical requirements. iPhone camera systems are currently more advanced and better suited for the high-end synchronization and image processing required by our software.
- Software Architecture: We are currently rebuilding our app and software infrastructure. Our goal is to create a robust, modular, and future-proof code architecture. By focusing on the iPhone first, we can ensure maximum stability and a seamless user experience for our mobile lighting solutions.
What this means for iPad users
While you may be able to download the app onto an iPad via the App Store (using the iPhone compatibility mode), the app is not optimized for the iPad screen resolution, and we cannot guarantee full functionality or technical support for any issues encountered on iPadOS.
For the best experience when controlling your Profoto devices (such as the Profoto B10 series, C1, or A-series) and utilizing our AirX technology, we recommend using a supported iPhone model running the latest version of iOS.
