The compatibility and usage of light shaping tools (LSTs) differ significantly between the Profoto C1 and C1 Plus due to their physical designs. Understanding these differences will help you achieve the lighting effect you desire.
Profoto C1 Plus
The Profoto C1 Plus is designed for versatility and features a magnetic mount that allows for quick changes during a shoot. It is compatible with the Profoto Clic range of modifiers. These tools can be stacked on top of each other to combine different effects.
Compatible Clic modifiers include:
- Clic Domes: For a soft, natural light spread.
- Clic Gels: To add color effects or balance color temperature.
- Clic Grids: To reduce light spill and add contrast.
- Clic Softboxes: For creating a large, soft light source (requires a Clic MagRing or specific adapters).
Note: The Profoto C1 Plus is not compatible with the Profoto Soft Bounce or the Profoto Bounce Card, as these are designed specifically for A-series flashes.
Profoto C1
The Profoto C1 is a fully integrated unit designed for simplicity and portability. Unlike the Plus model, it does not feature a magnetic mount for external modifiers.
- The Profoto C1 has a fixed, built-in dome diffuser.
- It is not compatible with any external light shaping tools, including the Clic series.
If you require the ability to modify your light with grids, gels, or softboxes, we recommend using the Profoto C1 Plus.
