Install button grayed out? macOS - Firmware updater permission

Modified on Wed, 11 Oct, 2023 at 4:03 PM

macOS has increased the security regarding 3rd party devices connected to the computer, and with older Profoto devices some extra steps are needed to update the devices.

The issue is present for the following products:

  • Air Remote TTL
  • B1/B1x
  • B2

When starting the firmware updater application for the first time, permission to receive keystrokes is needed to be granted.

NOTE:
If DENY is pressed, the application will not notify that this permission has been rejected and Profoto devices will not be able to connect properly.

With your Profoto device connected via USB, Open SYSTEM PREFERENCES -> SECURITY & PRIVACY -> INPUT MONITORING and grant permission to the Profoto firmware updater application.
