Introduction
For most studios the capture process is the most important because it is here you create your content and, ultimately, the value in the studio. However, most people miss the point that the capture process is the result of good planning and preparation. If planning and preparation is done correctly, the capture process will be smoth ant the post production work will be minimal.
In ProStudio, the capture process starts with the work order and ends with the Assets being matched to the right product and view.. These are the steps that we will go thorugfh
- Work Order selection
- Asset Capture (still and/or video)
- Asset naming
- File upload
- Asset matching
The Work Order is a very comprehensive shot-list that will give the photographer information such as:
- Work Order status: Information if the Work Order is ready to be shot
- Product inclusion: Lists all the products to be shot
- Sample status: Shows if the samples are available and where they are
- Style guide: Shows how each product is to be shot
- Detailed instruction: Provides details about the shoot, such as: timeline, resources, photo bay, etc.
Pre-requisites
The prerequisites is that all the samples are available and prepared for the shoot. It is also important that the Upoload matching rule has been defined and that you have established a principle for how you name assets ith the shooting bay. It should be noted that ProStudio has the ability to rename Assets when uploaded but the identification still has to be done using some existing data.
Different ways to capture
Capture with ProStudio can be done using two different methods, all depending on your local set-up
- Capture with Traditional set up
- Capture with Profoto Automated solutions
Key differences
The key differences between the methods are how we manage the capture process, specifically:
- Control light presets: We can set the light settings already on workflow level
- Naming assets: Can be more or less automated
- Upload assets: Different ways to upload depending in bay configuration
