Quick guide - How to upgrade your A10, A1X or A1 via USB

Here's quick step by step guide on how to upgrade your A10, A1X or A1 via USB.

1. Download the firmware
   Go to the Profoto firmware support page and download the latest firmware for your device

2. Open the software
   Launch the firmware update software by double-clicking the .exe file (for Windows) or the .dmg file (for Mac).
   
   
3. Prepare the device
   Turn off the device.
   Press and hold the rightmost button under the display, then press and hold the TEST button for 1 second.
   The device is now in upgrade mode. Note: The display will remain black and show no symbols during this mode.
   If you need to exit upgrade mode, simply remove and reinsert the battery.
   
   
4. Connect the USB cable
   Connect the flash unit to your computer using a compatible USB cable.
   Note: Not all USB cables support data transfer—some are charging-only. If you're unsure, try a different cable.
   
   
5. Check the Connection
   Ensure the software displays a "Connected" message in the white field at the bottom
   If it doesn't appear, try another USB cable or verify your computer's USB settings.
   
   
6. Start the Upgrade
   Once the "Click here to start upgrade" button becomes active, click it to begin the firmware update.
