Pre-requisites

Before adding product information to ProStudio you must make sure that all the product attributes has been defined that is required in the product listing.

You also need permission to import products, please contact your local admin or the Profoto support team for more information if you can't import.

Import information

Below is the procedure to import product information to ProStudio

Prepare Excel

In order to import product information you must first prepare the document with the necessary data. There will be some mandatory fields, they are defined under the section: 

• “Settings/Advanced/Product attributes”

Please see Configure product attributes in the help section.

These mandatory attributes could be product number or EAN (GTIN) or something that makes each item in the list unique.

Download one product to get a template

If you are uncertain of the format, you can always download one product to get a template. Go to the product listing view and filter one product and press export, this will give you an Excel file with all the required headings.

Start importing

To start importing you go to the product listing and do the following steps:

1. Select Action/Import.
   1. If you have projects activated you must select a project
2. Select a file to import.
3. Map columns in your Excel with the system
   1. If you use a template from the system you may just click “Includes header row”
   2. This will give you a button that says "Auto calculate column mapping by header"
4. Press import
5. ProStudio will validate the list of values you want to import
6. Press Next and start the import
7. A confirmation will be given about what has been imported and if something is only updated.

NOTE: One of the columns will be your unique identifier and this column CANNOT have duplicate values. If you have two rows with the same identifier, only the first one will be imported.

After import

When you have imported your products you will get a message stating what products was imported If some of the products already existed in ProStudio, they will be updated with new information and you will be informed about how many new products were created and how many that was updated.

What can not be imported

Currently you may only import text information. This means that you can’t import tags.

Tags needs to be updated on the items after import.
