Post production with Pixelz connector

Modified on Mon, 7 Oct at 3:58 PM

Introduction

We now have a connector that enables you to set up a post-production workflow using Pixelz.

Pre-requisites

You need to have a Pixelz account to enable this feature, please talk to your local admin or contact Pixelz to see what is needed.  This includes setting up "Templates" for Post-production on the Pixelz site, please see Pixelz instruction on how to do this.

You also have to set up the Piixelz connector in ProStudio. For information on how to do this, please see this instruction: Set up Pixelz connector

Using Pixelz for Post-production

The Pixelz process is part of our External post-production process and is initiated from the Work Order. Please do the following steps to initiate the post production process:

  1. Go to the Work Order you want to sen to Pixelz
  2. Select the Asset tab on the Work Order
  3. Select the assets you want to retouch
  4. Select "Action/Create external task"
  5. Name the task (default is the name of the Work Order)
  6. Select the Pixwlz connector
  7. Select the template you wish to use
  8. Click "Save"

The images are now sent to Pixelz using selected template. They are stored in a folder in Pixelz with the same name as the Work Order.

Monitor progress

To monitor the progress, a task has been created. Click on the Task bar on the Work Order to see the created task. It is also possible to click on the Task menu in the main menu bar, NOTE: this will give you all the tasks that has been created why it may be easier to isolate the task in the Work Order task bar.

The various statuses

When you open up the task with the asssets sent to Pixelz you will see the Assets sent to Pixelz, including which template has been used for each Asset. The heading of the assets will tell where they are in the process:

  • Assets sent to pixelz will be sorted under "Sent to external retouch"
  • Assets that are ready to be imported are placed under the "Ready to import" heading

Before importing the Assets, you may want to review them. The approval is done using Pixelz review functionality, mainly because we don´t want to import Assets unless they are approved.

To get to the Pixelz commenting, click on the link below the Asset, this will open up a new tab with Pixelz commenting page. The first time you do this you will be asked to login, this is a time based session that will terminated unless you're not active.

Note: the commenting view will not be available until the Assets has been retouched by Pixelz

Assigning unique "Templates" per asset

You have the ability to define a unique template per each Asset without creating a ton of tasks. This is done via the Style Guide, where you may define a unique template per view in the Work Order. Do the following:

  1. Select Settings/Style Guide
  2. Select the relevant Style Guide
  3. Select the view where you want to define a Templats
  4. Below the "External  Retouch" heading on the view there is s select box
  5. Select the template you want for this view
  6. Click "Save changes"

Note: you need to have a Pixelz connector defied to see this view

If a view has a unique "Template" assigned to it, this will be the primary choice when creating the retouching task. This means that this will override any templates you choose in the task panel.

Override the style guide selection

It is not always convenient to use the selection made by the style guide. Therefore we have introduced the option to override the style guide defined template when creating the external retouching task.

This is done by deselecting the checkbox just after selecting the template, it is the check box called "Override selection with mapped style guide view default"
